Why Social Media Might Be a Huge Waste of Your Time (and Money)

For the last 10+ years, there's been a race to "get on" - and now OFF many social media platforms.

IMHO - Social Media is a HUGE waste fo time, for many/most - most of the time. For a few - it's everything!

I have to hedge, because I know - there are incredible success stories like the Kardashians, and for SOME industries, like design and creative services, social media may be the best or only way consultants and customers find eachother.

OK - I got that out of the way. Yes, for some it's great.

For Most Businesses - Social Media Doesn't Drive Revenue

I hear it all the time..."get on social media".

I have also seen the truth, real data for some of the largest US companies in Google Analyitcs, for example. I wont say who (that's not ethical or nice).

I've seen the analytics for probably 30 +/- different comanies in a very wide variety of industires.

For 98% or more, social media doesn't directly drive sales. It might do a ton other other things, good or bad - but most businesses dont get revenue from their efforts on social media.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do anything on social, that would be crazy.

If a busines needs revenue NOW - the fastest way to get it, is using search.
